BUDSY'S MONTESSORI CULTURAL EXPLORATIONS - Garden Creatures (2)

There are always plenty of opportunities for reinforcements of concepts when working with our young children. Being in a prepared Montessori environment where materials are easily accessible to children over at the shelves, makes it easy for children to carry out these reinforcements, be they guided or working independently.

When lil' dragon_boi and I were working on our creepy crawlies, there were often times when he was not able to remember the names of the creatures. Having the materials accessible offered multiple opportunities a day to get back to the materials as and when he feels like working on them.

He was having some difficulty remembering the word 'wasp' and 'centipede' and 'scorpion'.. well, to be fair, these words are a mouthful for a child of 2yrs old to pronounce. Having concrete experiences of holding, observing and playing with the 3D creatures in our collections, have allowed plenty of fun time for the boys to learn their names.

Lil' dragon_boi finally said wasp without prompting when we did the matching activity. *happy*
